Arthur is currently east of Cape Canaveral and moving north at 6 miles per hour. While the system is still at tropical storm status with maximum sustained winds around 60 mph, most models agree it should reach hurricane strength by tomorrow. Intensity should peak on Friday- coinciding with the time it makes its closest pass to the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
While Arthur is not likely to generate a great deal of claims, it is worth noting that this storm is capable of creating some very dangerous rip-tides. Check out the latest blog post from Dr. Jeff Masters for the scoop – http://www.wunderground.com/blog/JeffMasters/comment.html?entrynum=2713
So it looks like Mother Nature will be bringing hurricane Arthur to the 4th of July party. Why can’t she be like everyone else and just bring a jello salad or cheese log?
