A new disturbance in the Atlantic!

By July 21, 2014February 3rd, 2020No Comments

We have a new area of disturbed weather- Tropical Depression 2-  about 1200 miles east of the Lesser Antilles worth watching in the coming days. While the small cyclone is encountering a moist environment with low wind shear, it is positioned over an area of relatively cool water, which typically inhibits convection. The system should reach the Caribbean in the next 48 hours or so, at which time it will encounter warmer waters- allowing for possible strengthening.

Until then, it is unlikely the system will reach more than weak tropical storm status. Statistically based models are leaning towards more development in the coming days, while the dynamical models are not anticipating much growth.

Only time will tell how Tropical Depression 2 will behave… But it is looking more likely than not, that this disturbance won’t be much of a concern. Stay Tuned!
